In collaboration with Art Appreciation Tours, we are hosting informal art talks which discuss current exhibitions on display. The discussions will be led by Art Historian Jennie Spiers.
Each study morning takes place 10am - 1pm in the Dorchester Suite. The cost is £30.00 per person which includes refreshments and pastries.
Augustus John: Drawn From Life

In the first three decades of the 20th century Augustus John (1878–1961) was widely considered one of the greatest living British artists, famous almost as much for his extraordinary Bohemian lifestyle as for his outstanding portraits, etchings and drawings. The talk complements the exhibition at Salisbury Museum (18 May- 29 September 2019).
Henry Lamb: Out of the Shadows

Looking into the life and work of this significant and highly skilled British artist. Tracing his development from his early career and influences, through to his studies and paintings of Poole's urban scene and unemployed workers in the 1920s. The talk complements the exhibition at Poole Museum (18 May - 29 September 2019).
J M W Turner and his influence on Modern Art movements

We will explore Turner’s influence on artists such as James McNeill Whistler, the Impressionists and the American Abstract Expressionist, Mark Rothko, who remarked: “This man Turner, he learned a lot from me.”
