Jonathan Raggett has worked in hotels since leaving Westminster College with a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management. Jonathan joined RCH in 1998 as General Manager of The Rubens Hotel. In 2000 he was promoted to Managing Director, overseeing the rapid expansion to the 17 award-winning luxury boutique hotels and a country inn which RCH now operates. In November 2009, Jonathan Raggett was delighted to be named Hotelier of the Year at the world-renowned Hotel Catey Annual Industry Awards organised by the Caterer & Hotelkeeper.

A local girl, Alex was born 5 minutes from the Summer Lodge in the village of Rampisham and attended primary school in Evershot! After years of living and studying in London & abroad she returned to the stunning Dorset countryside after leaving university and got a summer job as a receptionist at Summer Lodge. Within three months she was made Head Receptionist and in a year, Front Office Manager. A new career in hospitality was being forged and she has never looked back. After four years as Head of Hospitality at Kingston Maurward House & Gardens she joined The Acorn in 2008 as a part of the management couple. In 2017, Alex and her husband Jack have taken over management at Summer Lodge.

I was previously employed at Cliveden, Buckinghamshire and The Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath where I had been Deputy General Manager. Coincidentally I was already familiar with Summer Lodge and its considerable reputation, so much so that it had been my choice for my wedding night. I had discovered this special, romantic corner in West Dorset which I knew instinctively was where I wanted to be. I arrived in May 2008 and subsequently moved my family to Evershot where we hope to become useful members of the community. I very much look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you to Summer Lodge, set in this area of outstanding natural beauty and which complements our magnificent cuisine and unique accommodation.

I have worked in the hotel industry since graduating from Shannon College of Hotel Management and have been at Summer Lodge since 2005. Always mindful that our guests have a range of excellent hotels to choose from, it’s vitally important that we provide everything you need to make your visit memorable - for all the right reasons. Our task is to determine the individual needs and wants of each of our guests and then ensure that those are not just met, but exceeded. Since 2004, I have been part of the amazing team at Summer Lodge. I came here from the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport in Maine, USA, a fellow Relais and Chateaux property. I have also enjoyed time at Longueville Manor on Jersey, as well as obtaining invaluable experience in some Michelin starred establishments in Germany. From Dorset’s abundant local produce, my resourceful and imaginative international team with its strong classical foundations and light modern touches, creates delicious dishes to tempt and satisfy you. Whether a nutritious and light salad at the spa or a special celebratory meal in the luxurious restaurant, we hope you will have an entirely gratifying experience. For a while now, we have been collaborating with local producers on finding the very best that the region has to offer. In particular, over and above the quality of the foods we are buying, we are interested in their provenance, and their can be fewer places in England where such an enormous variety of delicious food has to travel such a short trip to arrive in our kitchen.

I joined Summer Lodge in December 2005 as a barman and have been Restaurant Manager since 2010. I come from just outside Paris where I worked in highly rated Michelin starred restaurants during my catering school periods. I also enjoyed work experience in Berkshire at the Vineyard at Stockcross. My passion for quality of service and entertainment, combined with the friendliness of my wonderful and vibrantly young team are important parts of making Summer Lodge seem like your second home. There is no request too large and no detail too small. Our Restaurant at Summer Lodge is the perfect place to relax. The surroundings are magnificent and there is so much to see and do. My team and I look forward very much to welcoming you and making Summer Lodge the perfect place to stay.
- Regional Maintenance Manager, Dorset & Guernsey
I started my career in the construction industry serving my apprenticeship as a carpenter, moving on to Foreman and then Site Manager, learning the main trade disciplines along the way. In 1992 I joined the team at Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saison, a new environment full of challenges. I have been working at Summer Lodge since September 2003 and continue to enjoy the challenges looking after many varied historic and listed buildings coupled with luxurious internal décor and modern technology.

I have worked in the beauty industry both in the UK and abroad for over twenty years and joined Summer Lodge Hotel as Spa Director in 2004. In 2010 I joined The Old Government House Hotel. The Spa is a place where our guests and members can rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit with our extensive range of treatments. As each of us is a unique being, our guests are treated as individuals with care and consideration. Both myself and my team are dedicated to making your Spa Experience a memorable one.
- Executive Director - Red Carnation Hotels
Internationally acclaimed hotelier Terry Holmes, winner of the 2006 Caterer Tourism Award, joined Red Carnation Hotels in February 2006, bringing with him his incredible passion for the hospitality industry. His tremendous career ranges from a chef to Vice President in the luxury hotel business.
A much loved character at each of the hotels in the Red Carnation collection, his presence together with his expertise further strengthens our guests' experience.

After running his own restaurant in South Africa, Jack came to the UK in 2001 to work as a Chef at Summer Lodge. One year later he moved to the Acorn to run the restaurant and bars. He became Head Chef in 2003 and the Acorn Inn was awarded an AA rosette for the restaurant. He stayed as Chef until 2008 when he and Alex took over as Management couple. He and Alex live close to the village and have two children, Tom & Henry, as well as a crazy black Labrador Dougall. In 2017, Jack and his wife Alex have taken over management at Summer Lodge.

I am from South Africa and have been in England for 10 years. I started to work at Summer Lodge in 2003. We are lucky to live a very happy life here in Dorset and I believe that my knowledge of the local area is helpful when dealing with guest requests. The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is the very first interaction with new guests on the phone and to welcome back our regular guests.

I have been working in the hospitality industry since a very young age in my parents' hotel in France and this is where my passion for this industry started. I feel very lucky to have joined the Summer Lodge team back in August 2004 after having spent seven years around England and Scotland (Winchester, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Stamford in Lincolnshire and Edinburgh). Coming in to work with this wonderful team and amazing location in the most beautiful property is always a daily joy! I look after events and banqueting for as few as nine people. No matter what your requests are we will treat them individually and professionally with the expertise of our team here. Our motto is "No request too large, no detail too small" and this is exactly what we are about. We look forward to welcoming you to our Dorset oasis very soon.

I arrived at Summer Lodge in 2004, and my path here has been an interesting one. Prior to Summer Lodge, I was at Cliveden, and before that, I had the great privilege of having Gerard Basset, one of the founders of the Hotel du Vin Group, as my employer and mentor. My parents have always been in the restaurant business in Alsace in France, and this is how I started out. Food service, whilst interesting, did not excite me as much as I would have liked, and so I started to dabble in the wine service aspect, and I quickly realised that this was the right way to go. Our wine list takes some beating. I regularly take part in competitions to stay abreast of trends and developments throughout the world and our list has won many awards because of its balance and diversity. Our cellar is recognised as one of the best in the world by the Wine Spectator Magazine. I look forward to taking you on a most delicious tour! I am always getting to know amazing wines and learning many interesting things that I hope will enhance your food and beverage experience.

I started my career in the famous 3 Michelin star restaurant ‘Georges Blanc ‘near Burgundy in France, where I come from. Since then, I have gained experience across a number of exclusive hotels and Michelin starred restaurants including the ‘Royal Park Evian’, the ‘Chevre d’Or’ and ‘Cliveden’, here in the UK. It is a great honour for me to have been part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection since beginning at Summer Lodge Hotel in July 2004 as Head Barman. In my other job as Bar Consultant for the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, I have the opportunity to travel around the world and work with our fellow bar teams as well as those of our beautiful sister company, ‘Uniworld River Cruises’. My passion for the bar has helped me to create the extensive bar list we have at Summer Lodge. I hope I will have the opportunity to share with you my love for whiskies and perhaps even entice you to try one of the best whiskeys in the world from Japan. I look forward to welcoming you and showing you our Red Carnation passion for excellence.

I have been at Summer Lodge since 2004. In my 30 years' experience as a Housekeeper, 20 of which have been in hotels and 10 of which have been in the service of high profile families mostly in the Middle East, I have learnt so much that can now benefit our guests here at Summer Lodge. Total comfort and cleanliness are the aims of my cheerful and hardworking team. No two rooms are the same and furnished as they are in the style of a large private home, they create a homely feel that is as pleasurable for us as we hope it will be for you. We have a wide variety of pillows, duvets and bed sizes and cater very well for preferences in specific colours, music, DVDs and so much more. The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is the attention that I pay to detail as well as the comfort and care I relish in providing to our guests.

Since completing my Horticultural training at Capel Manor Horticultural College in North London, I worked for a family run garden maintenance company as head gardener in North London for six years. I then changed industries and entered the world of hospitality, working for Marriott International, where I progressed to Director of Security at Marriott’s flagship property the Grosvenor Square Hotel.
In 2008 I was offered an amazing opportunity to move to France where I stayed for the next six years working for the horticultural nursery Pepinieres Charentaise in Montembouf. I returned to the UK in 2014 to continue my career in horticulture by starting my own company. In January 2018 I was thrilled to join the Summer Lodge team as Head Gardener.
