CONCIERGE NEWS

At Summer Lodge, we know exactly just how lucky we are to be based in the heart of Dorset, arguably one of the most beautiful counties in Britain. Surrounded by an abundance of both natural and cultural history, one can not help but be mesmerized by all of the ancient scenes and customs that Dorset has to offer.

With natural wonders, including Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach, Durdle Door, Stonehenge and the 150 mile long Jurassic Coast all just a short drive away. This, combined with a variety of museums , historic castles and gardens in the area, it is easy to be swept way back in time to many different eras that we all consider historically to be long ago, but certainly not far away in location!

Adjoining our own gardens,  is a 9000 acre deer park, perfect for long casual strolls. There are also exciting biking routes in the area, with enough wildlife, birdlife and flowers to keep you amazed all the way.

And for the more artistic, why not visit one of the many art exhibitions, craft markets or music festivals frequently held in our surrounding towns and villages? Or follow the trail of Thomas Hardy, the famous writer who fell in love with this intriguing county centuries ago. We will gladly supply information on sights and places of interest associated with Hardy and his work.

With rocky beaches, ancient scenery, rich history, and activities like fly-fishing, golfing, clay shooting, carting, cycling, hot-air ballooning and sailing all less than an hour's drive away,  we would gladly advise and assist any of our guests, whatever their choice.
