Event: Haunted Halloween at Portland Castle
Date: October 25th-31st
Portland Castle is one of the biggest attractions on the Dorset coastline, proving popular with visitors who want to learn more about the coastal fort, which was built 450 years ago during the reign of Henry VIII.
The attraction is worth a visit on any day of the year, but an upcoming week-long celebration of Halloween may make it an even more enticing option.
There will be a variety of events taking place between October 25th and 31st, including the opportunity to explore the Tudor kitchen, try on armour and see ghostly sculpted figures.
In addition, the castle's tearoom will be serving up a variety of Halloween cakes, along with spiced apple punch.
Visitors will also be able to explore the gun platforms and enjoy the views out into the Channel, which have been described as "stunning" by operator of the attraction English Heritage.
The fort is located close to Weymouth and can be easily reached by car by guests staying at luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge.
Those who opt for the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to relax with a complimentary romantic turndown on each evening of their stay, or perhaps opt for a bottle of Champagne to enjoy on arrival.
Other options available in the offer are afternoon tea for two to share or a light lunch, while guests can also benefit from not having to check out until 16:00 BST on Sundays.
