If ever an event exemplified idyllic British countryside life then the Dorset County Show, due to take place in early September, is it.

Held over two days at the Dorchester showground a short distance from luxury Dorset hotel The Summer Lodge, the show features the best rural Britain has to offer, with everything from gardening to crafts, animals, farming and local food and drink on the agenda.

Visitors will be able to explore in excess of 450 trade stands offering a variety of useful products and local produce, as well as take in a number of events and attractions being held in the two rings on the site.

Falconry, axe handling and canine behaviour demonstrations will all be taking place in the Main Ring, while the Lake Ring will feature ferret racing, lurcher demonstrations, terrier racing and gun dog displays.

And similar events will also be held in various locations across the site over the course of September 4th and 5th, including live cookery demonstrations, dog agility, cattle competitions and sheep shearing.

Horse events also feature prominently, with three dedicated rings being used to show off the 1,200 entries that have been submitted so far.

The Main Ring will host horse showings on both mornings and the Showjumping Ring is to run competitions throughout the weekend.

Guests who stay at The Summer Lodge and opt for the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to relax in style when they return to the hotel after a long day at the show, as the offering includes the option of a romantic turndown every evening.

Alternatively, they can choose a complimentary bottle of Champagne to enjoy on arrival, afternoon tea for two on one day, or a light lunch for two once during their stay.
