Explore Dorset's many walking routes

Event: Explore Dorset's many walking routes
Date: All year

Dorset is a beautiful place to explore all year round, however, it takes on an extra sparkle during the summer months when the sunshine kisses its green and pleasant lands.

With over 42 per cent of the county designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is a wonderful place to come and lose oneself for an afternoon, while the abundance of plant and animal life provides plenty of opportunities for photographers to capture some beautiful shots.

There are more than 300 walking routes in the area, catering for everyone from those who want to enjoy a gentle stroll to those keen on more challenging hill walks.

Avon Heath Country Park is full of some stunningly beautiful flowers and plants, with heather blanketing the landscape and clumps of birch and pine trees standing proud.

Glistening sea views and coastal delights can be found in Durlston Country Park, which offers wonderful sea cliffs, an abundance of wildlife and luscious woodlands.

After enjoying the beauty of the countryside, visitors can explore its many treasures by booking a stay at the luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge and taking advantage of the Adventures in Food package.

Those coming in April can rediscover the ancient art of foraging by joining River Cottage star John Wright on a Seashore Forage.

Guests will head to the spectacular Jurassic Coast where they will rummage through the rocks to uncover the many secrets this wonderful part of the country is hiding.

There will be similar outings in September and October, meaning those who cannot make it next month can still learn how to forage.
