Event: From Page to Screen: Bridport Film Festival
Date: April 3rd to 9th
Some of the best films ever made have been adaptations of new and classic books.
A Clockwork Orange, A Room With a View and The Lady Vanishes all captured the public imagination in print form before going on to be big screen hits.
It is movies such as these which will be celebrated at the Bridport Film Festival: From Page to Screen.
This ground-breaking event was inspired by the organisers' discovery that six out of ten Bafta and Oscar-winning films were book adaptations, yet this fact is never highlighted in other movie and book festivals.
Award-winning authors and directors will deliver a series of talks on the inspiration for their works, with Lynn Barber, the brains behind the critically-acclaimed An Education, and Alan Cubbit, who wrote the script for The Boys are Back, both attending.
After enjoying some classic cinema, visitors can sit back and lose themselves in a good book while sipping afternoon tea at the luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge.
Those who book the Get More From Your Stay package can opt for tea or alternatively enjoy a bottle of Champagne, a romantic turndown on one evening or a light lunch for two.
