Abbotsbury Music Festival

Event: Abbotsbury Music Festival in Dorset
Date: July 4th to July 7th 2008.

The Abbotsbury Music Festival is putting on a performance of Donizetti's Don Pasquale, running from July 4th to 7th in the grounds of Abbey House.

The plot revolves around Don Pasquale and his nephew Ernesto, for whom he has chosen a bride. However, Ernesto refuses to obey his uncle as he is in love with another woman, Norina.

Ernesto' friend - Dr Malatesto - proposes a cunning plan to dupe Don Pasquale and in doing so ensure the marriage of the two sweethearts.

The opera is to be sung in an English translation of the original Italian and is being performed by the Garden Opera Group. The production has also achieved a coup in enlisting the services of Parisian designer Dulcie Best for costume design.
