Dorset Art Weeks

Event: Dorset Art Weeks
Date: May 24th to June 8th 2008

Dorset Art Weeks are set to "explode" all over Dorset this spring and could provide the source of plenty of afternoon excursions for guests staying at luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge.

The events will run for a total of 16 days from May 24th until June 8th 2008.

Visitors to the series of events will have the opportunity to meet artists and craftsmen from the region in their own surroundings. Watch them as they work their craft in their own studios which include thatched cottages, barn workshops and historic ex-industrial buildings.

In excess of 800 artists will be taking part in this public art event as part of the free festival of visual art.

Those attending the exhibitions from their warm suites at luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge will be able to view, buy and even commission works from the artists.

Dorset Art Weeks was founded by artist and furniture designer John Makepeace OBE who described the event as having "no substitute".

In 2006, Dorset Art Weeks generated £1.1 million in sales for artists, who received more than 100,000 studio visits.
