There is so much to do in and around the Dorset countryside and the staff at Summer Lodge are experts when it comes to recommending places to go and things to see. Below you will find a list of our favourite activities which are sure to enrich your experience. These do need to be arranged in advance so please contact us to organise your activities prior to your visit.
Enjoy an afternoon workshop with our own Cellar Masters, Eric Zwiebel MS and Emanuel Pesqueira including one Champagne, two white wines, two red wines and one sweet wine. These sessions are available between 4.30pm and 6pm and cost £120 per person.
Cooking workshops at Lesley Waters' Cookery School, a 15 minute drive from the hotel. It’s not just about the cooking though. It’s the whole day; meeting people and enjoying the atmosphere where you can relax, learn and laugh.
Take a tour of the Furleigh Estate vineyard and winery including tasting. This 85 acre property situated in the south-west corner of Dorset is just a 20 minute drive from the hotel and tours operate every Friday and Saturday at 2pm. All Furleigh Estate sparkling wines are International Gold Medal Winners.
Attend a green woodworking course at Guy Mallinson’s Woodland Workshop in Lyme Regis, about 15 miles West of Evershot. Their green woodworking courses are suitable for everyone: novices and experienced woodworkers; interested amateurs or anyone just keen to try out something new.
Lyme Regis is a fantastic place for walks and the following guided walks are on offer from The Lyme Regis Museum which is a 50 minute drive from Summer Lodge.
Local artists and craftspeople share their skills at Highway Farm in Bridport, a 25 minute drive from Summer Lodge. One and two day workshops are available including willow sculptures, hazelwood garden furniture and, watercolour painting to name a few. These sessions are done in small groups and bookings are essential. Gift vouchers are also available.
Natural history, wildlife, archaeology and art & craft courses run all year at Kingcombe Environmental Studies Centre. Bookings are essential and gift vouchers available. The centre is a 20 minute drive from Summer Lodge.
The Dorset Wildlife Trust runs a programme of walks, talks, workshops, work parties and other wildlife events. It is a 20 minute drive from Evershot.
Monkton Wyld Court is a one hour drive from Summer Lodge and runs a programme of walks, talks, workshops & courses and other countryside events.
Green woodwork courses run throughout the year at The Bodger's Barn, 20 minutes from the hotel. Short courses and evening classes of small groups are available while there are also workshop sessions for groups including special needs.

The ultimate venue for craft enthusiasts, head to Butterfly Bright Workshops to learn about patchwork/quilting, sewing, jewellery, embroidery, cake decorating, ceramic buttons and paper cutting. Butterfly Bright is a 50 minute drive from the hotel.
Learn how to dress a crab and correctly gut any fish at The Old Watch House in Lyme Regis, 50 minutes from Summer Lodge. This is a fact filled hour learning about local fish and takes place at 1pm every Tuesday.
Marilyn Allis is a water colour artist and runs classes from either The Studio, East Farm, Winterborne Whitechurch, Blandford (10am - 3.30pm) or The Colliton Club Dorchester (10.30 am - 3.30pm).
