Ahh, me hearties! The year is 1701 and the likes of Blackbeard are still roaming the high seas, sailing from one port to the next in search of gold, doubloons and blood. Quickly - get along to Nothe Fort and man the cannons to defend Weymouth as the bilge rats come scuttling up the beach.

For Nothe Fort is this spring throwing a special pirate-themed extravaganza that is sure to entertain the entire family. Thanks to the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson, The Muppets and Johnny Depp, the swashbucklers have never lost their romanticism.

There's plenty of fun celebrating the exploits of grog-swigging mateys such as Long John Silver, Edward Thatch and Guybrush Threepwood, including a treasure hunt, fancy dress, cannon firing and a mock battle.

Kids will love the ship-themed bouncy castle and the face painting, while the adults are invited to buy handcrafted swashbuckling goodies from the marketplace that will be set up in the centre of the fort like the port of Tortuga.

As the night creeps in, there's even a Pirate Ghost Walk that is sure to scare the pants off even the adults. Trace the steps of legendary captains who once controlled the shores of Weymouth, using the rocky crags and caves for smuggling and other illicit activities.

If at any point the little ones start feeling hungry, take them along to the onsite cafe where they can gorge themselves with ships biscuits - all weevils guaranteed to be removed beforehand.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in their best pirate-themed outfits - that includes you, Mum and Dad - as there will be a competition.

After you've worn yourself and the children out, return to Summer Lodge where you can put your feet up and take a rest from all the piratey fun in our magnificent spa - as part of our exclusive package.
