Dorset will be overcome with festive cheer this Christmas, and nowhere more so than Wareham, which is expecting a visit from Santa himself.

This historic market town is an absolute joy to visit any time of the year, but it really comes into its own during the winter with plenty of seasonal joy and goodwill to all men, as well as the promise of magic in the air.

Families should definitely try to visit the village on December 8th if they want to make this year's Christmas celebrations extra special, as this is the day that Santa Claus will be paying his annual visit to Wareham.

The market town goes all out in order to impress Sir Nick, with 3,000 people turning out to watch the parade from 4:30pm that includes stalls, floats and much more besides.

Previous events have seen him arrive in all manner of unexpected transportation, including 2011 when he showed up in a stretch Hummer limo, much to the amusement of onlookers.

Warm refreshments can be found in the town hall, and the young ones will be particularly pleased to learn that Santa will be setting up a grotto in the middle of the town for one day only, where they can receive an early Christmas present.
