Hundreds of people could be thinking of booking luxury Dorset hotel guests this July to coincide with the excitement of the annual Larmer Tree Festival.

Taking place at Larmer Tree Gardens from July 17th to 21st, the event has expanded considerably in scope since the inaugural edition in 1990 and provides a varied programme of all-star entertainment against a beautiful and scenic backdrop.

More than 100 bands and performers will take to the stage at this year's festival, with comedy, theatre and workshop events also set to take place.

Big-name musical acts who will be performing this year include the likes of Van Morrison, Dexys, Seasick Steve, Imelda May, Bellowhead, KT Tunstall and the Richard Thompson Electric Trio.

Meanwhile, comedians such as Dylan Moran, Alistair McGowan and Rich Hall will be providing the laughter, with various children's shows and an appearance from Katy Ashworth from CBeebies helping to keep the little ones entertained.

Other events and attractions include a raucous carnival, pop-up theatre performances, activity sessions for the whole family and screenings of various cult movies based around the theme of time travel, as presented by the esteemed film critic Mark Kermode.

Meanwhile, attendees on the Saturday will be encouraged to get involved in the day's fancy dress theme, which this year focuses on wearing outlandish and eye-catching hats.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a wide range of refreshments, food and drink, including tea, cake, elderberry juice, ice cream, organic meats or special Larmer Tree wines.

The popularity of the Larmer Tree Festival has grown steadily over the last two decades and earned the event the title of best family festival at the UK Festival Awards.

This means it could be ideal for those enjoying a Family Adventures Start Here deal at The Summer Lodge Hotel, which is specially tailored to the needs of parents and children.

It includes perks such as board games, videogames and DVDs to enjoy in the room, as well as activities such as croquet, tennis, biking and swimming.
