The popular Lyme Regis carnival and regatta in Dorset has this week published its events list for the 2013 extravaganza, which will see a spectacular music-enhanced fireworks display close the proceedings.

While the timings are still being worked out, preparation is clearly well underway for the much loved festival, which promises to keep the entire family entertained with a plethora of exciting activities.

Indeed, it's advisable for holidaymakers to book into accommodation close to Lyme Regis in order to make the most of this fantastical event.

Take advantage of the One Night More offer at The Summer Lodge Hotel, which permits families to stay an extra night without charge when booking five nights or more.

Once you've checked in, it's time to start enjoying the festivities. Events kick off on Saturday August 3rd, with the first of the sailing regatta races, a volleyball tournament on the beach and a golf ball derby.

Sunday will see a dog show like no other, as well as an egg catching contest and a chance to witness some proper Morris dancing.

Families are also advised to check out the pavement art competition, particularly if you have young ones with a penchant for the paintbrush, and also the thrilling Acrobatic Gymnastics Display on the Tuesday, sure to delight and amaze.

For those of a competitive nature, feel free to enter yourselves into the Family Quiz, taking place on the Monday, which will see a mystery prize awarded to the winner.

The event will be closed with a spectacular firework display set to music, and it's also worth watching the Chinese Lion Dancers performing along with the Carnival Parade.

Most of the action takes place in and around the Marine Parade at the seafront. While exact timings have yet to be finalised, it's easy to pick up a programme of events from one of the shops along the seafront.
