Category: Art & Culture Date: Sunday, 05 January 2014 Those wishing to discover a bit of history for themselves should make it a priority to attend the Saxon Springs walk at Corfe Castle this January. Ramblers will be able to explore the Saxon farmsteads snuggled up against the south side of the ridge that the impressive fortification overlooks - a reminder of a long-dead age when these incredible structures ruled the UK. The route crosses the Isle of Purbeck's East Common before looping round to visit an ancient Saxon packhorse bridge, making for an invigorating trek as well as a fascinating journey through the ages. There is food and drink available after the walk, which is taking place on January 5th. After you're done exploring, head back to The Summer Lodge, where you can be sure of a Quintessential British Experience including a full English breakfast and an afternoon tea, in addition to the fantastic service and wonderful location.
